The New England Patriots need a top weapon on offense next season. And they have one in their sights.

Multiple sources report that the Patriots are heavily pursuing Jacksonville Jaguars receiver Calvin Ridley. New England even has an offer on the table.

But the Jaguars also aren't giving up that easily.

CBS Sports' Jonathan Jones reported that it could actually be Florida taxes that might affect the decision-making process.

“With offers from the Patriots and Jaguars, current sense is Ridley will sign back (with) Jags on a deal that would equal or best Pats’ when considering taxes and cost of living,” Jones wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter.

And as of Tuesday, ESPN's Adam Schefter reported that Ridley prefers to stay in Jacksonville.

But MassLive's Mark Daniels added more details about the Patriots offer.

"The Patriots currently don't have a sense if Calvin Ridley is returning to Jacksonville. They have what they feel is a competitive offer on the table.

As of right now, this is a 'wait and see' situation, per source," Daniels wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter.

After staring his career with the Atlanta Falcons, Ridley most recently spent the 2023 season with the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Across his three years, he has 324 receptions for 4,358 yards and 36 touchdowns.

So let's see if he's in New England next season.
