Davon Godchaux is leaving fans guessing after his latest post on X, formerly known as Twitter.
The Patriots defensive tackle was given permission to seek a trade not even a year after the two sides agreed to a two-year, $16.5 million contract extension. And on Friday, he posted five winking face emojis.
With that, it has caused some speculation that he is headed to a new team soon.
Godchaux was involved in trade rumors back in November, but the team opted to keep him around. However, with an entirely new coaching staff, it's clear that they are prepared to switch things up.
Since coming to the Patriots in 2021, Godchaux has played in every single game. And during the 2024 season, Godchaux finished with 67 total tackles across 17 games. Throughout his entire career, he has a total of 429 tackles, 5.5 sacks, two forced fumbles, one fumble recovery, and three passes defended.
While the Patriots could part ways with Godchaux, they are expected to pursue Eagles defensive tackle Milton Williams. Plus, New England's executive vice president of player personnel Eliot Wolf is confident in this years draft class at this particular position.
“I think it’s really deep on the defensive line,” Wolf said.
While Godchaux's tweet didn't give too much away, it is very interesting timing for something so cryptic. Let's see what happens.
