New England Patriots fans will have some late nights during the holiday season this year.

The Patriots' 2023 schedule, which was officially released Thursday at 8 p.m. ET, features four primetime games including three in back-to-back-to-back weeks in December. Two of the Patriots' four primetime games could be flexed. New England had five primetime games last season, so it appears the NFL doesn't have a ton of faith in this squad's potential for success.

We'll take you through our biggest takeaways to the Patriots' 2023 schedule:

  • The Tom Brady homecoming will be Week 1 against the Eagles in a very difficult matchup.
  • The Patriots' early-game slate is a tough one in general as they take on the reigning NFC champion Eagles, an ascending Dolphins team, the Aaron Rodgers-led Jets and Dak Prescott-led Cowboys.
  • Weeks 5 through 11 do contain some difficult matchups against the Bills and Dolphins, but it's one of the easier stretches with the Saints, Raiders, Commanders, Colts and a bye week within a seven-week span. The slate as a whole is a tough one.
  • Three primetime games in a row is tough from Dec. 7 to Christmas Eve, but there is a benefit to it.
  • New England gets a long 11-day break before taking on the reigning Super Bowl-champion Chiefs on a Monday night. That's certainly fortunate.
  • The Patriots will be getting home from their Broncos game right around the time Santa is dropping off presents under their tree. Facing Denver on Christmas Eve should be a bit of a gift even with Sean Payton as head coach.
  • New England has two more tough games to close out the slate against the Bills in what should be a cold one in Buffalo and then Rodgers heading to Gillette Stadium for the season finale.
  • The Patriots' schedule release video features a lot of really cool cameos and an extra special one at the end.
