The New England Patriots are officially on vacation.
On Wednesday, Bill Belichick cancelled the final day of mandatory minicamp, ending the offseason program. The next time the media will get a glimpse at the Patriots will be for training camp during the last week of July.
And instead of minicamp, the Patriots players will be spending time together off the field.
ESPN's Mike Reiss reports that Wednesday will be a "team-building, no-practice day for the Patriots."
"There was a sense of finality after Tuesday’s practice. They went through everything, including contingency personnel situations (e.g. backup QB steps in, backup C steps in etc.). So now, some fun," Reiss wrote on Twitter.
This move is not uncommon for the Patriots, with Belichick known to replace the final minicamp practice.
There are many new faces to the team along with some returning veterans and Wednesday will be a time where they can get to know one another in a less competitive environment.
However, it will still be a very exciting day at Gillette Stadium, with DeAndre Hopkins scheduled to visit the facility on Wednesday and Thursday.
