The New England Patriots are looking at many different key players to help improve their roster this offseason, and one of those is Philadelphia Eagles defensive tackle Milton Williams

Williams is one of the top free agents, and according to NFL Network's Cameron Wolfe, the Patriots are "expected among top suitors."

A to Z Sports' Wendell Ferreira provided some more context on why teams are interested in Williams.

"Williams became nationally recognized after his two Super Bowl sacks, but he’s been a productive player for much longer. A third-round pick in 2021, he is the type of player that teams want in free agency. He's 25, entering his second contract, and coming off a big year. In 2024, he generated 40 total pressures and five sacks in the regular season," Ferreira wrote.

"Williams is not a complete player, though. Last year, he had a 43.1 run defense grade by PFF, the second time in four years in which he was behind 45. As a defensive tackle, he is a designated interior rusher—and that's really important for any defense, but the cost has to be considered."

Christian Barmore's status for the 2025 season is up in the air after he was diagnosed with blood clots last year. He returned for a few games in the middle of the season, but was sidelined once again when he had recurring symptoms. And then, there's the fact that the Patriots gave Davon Godchaux permission to seek a trade despite having agreed to a two-year, $16.5 million contract extension in July.

As Vrabel said, the roster is going to look a lot different by August, and it's already starting.

The Patriots have a league-leading $127.7 million in available cap money to spend when free agency begins on Mar. 12.
