Lynn Bowden Jr. is heading to New Orleans.
The 25-year-old receiver signed with the Saints on Thursday, ESPN's Field Yates reports. To make room, New Orleans also released former Patriots guard Yasir Durant.
Bowden signed with the Patriots practice squad in September 2022 and remained with the team until he was waived in May. The receiver was elevated for one game during the season, but was never targeted.
Bowden has experience playing at bunch of different positions, beginning as a running back in high school before transitioning to a quarterback. He committed to play at Kentucky where he was moved to a wide receiver for his freshman season, but was switched back to quarterback in his junior year after injuries to both the starting and backup quarterbacks.
His versatility led him to be drafted by the Las Vegas Raiders in the third round (80th overall pick) of the 2020 NFL Draft, originally selected as a running back.
Following his first year Bowden was traded to the Miami Dolphins and saw time strictly as a receiver.
With experience in a multitude of different positions, it will be interesting to see if Bowden can earn a spot on the active roster when the season begins.
