Patriots gain two compensatory draft picks for losing two key free agents
New England lost two qualifying free agents last offseason.
The New England Patriots officially added two compensatory draft picks on Thursday night.
The Patriots gained picks in the fourth (No. 135 overall) and sixth rounds (No. 210 overall). “Under the rules for compensatory draft selections, a team losing more or better compensatory free agents (“CFA”) than it acquires in the previous year is eligible to receive compensatory draft picks,” per the NFL’s official release.
The Patriots lost cornerback JC Jackson and offensive lineman Ted Karras and didn’t gain any better compensatory free agents.
