It's no secret that the teams with the top three overall picks in the 2024 NFL Draft need a new quarterback.
And Sports Illustrated's Albert Breer provided some detailed insight on where the Chicago Bears and the Washington Commanders are leaning. That will completely influence who the Patriots ultimately select with the No. 3 overall pick.
“I think it’s 99% Caleb Williams is a Bear now, and I think that’s been the case for a few weeks,” Breer said on NBC Sports Boston. “Unless something goes really wrong in that situation, that’s set in stone.
“And the more I’ve started to ask around, the more it seems like Jayden Daniels is probably the leader in the clubhouse to be a Commander. It does match up with what Kliff Kingsbury’s looked for in his quarterbacks over the years. Obviously, Jayden Daniels had a great season last season at LSU.”
So with that, it seems that Drake Maye will be the next Patriots quarterback. However, nothing is set in stone until draft night. But it seems the Commanders have liked what they've seen form Daniels.
“I think right now, again, this can change over the next few weeks, I think Jayden Daniels is the leader in the clubhouse to be the second overall pick,” Breer added.
As for Maye, there have been a lot of positive reports about him and it seems he has made a solid impression on the Patriots.
Let's see if it all stays this way or if the Commanders switch things up ahead of the draft.
