New England Patriots cornerback Jack Jones was arrested last month for trying to bring two loaded firearms on the plane at Boston Logan International Airport. This prompted many to dig up a tweet Jones had sent in May addressed towards an NBA star who was also in trouble due to an incident involving a gun.
This news of Jones' arrest on June 16 came just hours after the NBA announced that Ja Morant had been suspended 25 games due to a second incident involving him holding a gun in a social media video
Now, over a month after the cornerback was arrested, Jones took to Twitter once again addressing the comparisons being made between him and Ja Morant.
Jones wrote, "Y’all twitters birds. I’ll never argue wit nerds.. me and ja not the same.."
Here is the tweet that Jones posted in May:
'@JaMorant dumb.. you letting social media and yo pride ruin yo real money. Put them guns down and run that money up. Make one of yo homies sign up for security or concealed carry if you feel like you need it that bad.. but you the bread winner you gotta start acting like it..", Jones wrote. This news of Jones' arrest on June 16 came just hours after the NBA announced that Morant had been suspended 25 games due to his second incident incident involving a gun.
A week after his arrest, Jones was arraigned in East Boston District Court and is due back in court on August 18 along with being released on a $30,000 bail. The date of Jones' court appearance is the day prior to the Patriots second preseason game against the Green Bay Packers at Lambeau Field.
Jones is being charged with two counts of each of the following offenses:
– Possession of a concealed weapon in a secure area of an airport.
– Possession of ammunition without a Firearm Identification Card.
– Unlawful possession of a firearm.
– Carrying a loaded firearm.
– Possession of a large-capacity feeding device.
He could face more the 30 years in prison if he were convicted.
"He had no intention of brining any guns into Logan Airport that day," Jones' attorney Rosemary Scapicchio said following his arraignment. "I expect that the evidence is going to show that he had no knowledge of what was going on."
