The New England Patriots' fifth-round pick is officially in!

With the 146th overall pick in the 2025 NFL draft, the New England Patriots selected LSU EDGE Bradyn Swinson

The Patriots received this pick on Day 2 after trading the 77th overall pick to the Carolina Panthers for the 85th overall and the 146th overall.

Everything to know about Bradyn Swinson

Swinson is another later round steal for the Patriots, who are getting a talented pass-rusher. This continues a trend, with Eliot Wolf telling reporters after Day 2 that they were going to focus on defense on Saturday. And they are doing just that, using all three of their selections on defense so far.

In 2024, Swinson finished with 8.5 sacks with 59 tackles, 2 forced fumbles, and 3 pass deflections. That showed that with the right coaching staff, he can be a dangerous weapon for the Patriots on defense.

Here's what A to Z Sports' Draft Expert Destin Adams say to say about Swinson:

"Bradyn Swinson is an edge rusher in this class who, despite being a day-two prospect, has the potential to develop into a number-one pass rusher for an NFL team. He has great size standing at 6'3", weighing 255 pounds. His immediate burst off the line is deadly, and his 33 3/8-inch arms and 81 1/4-inch wingspan help him keep linemen from being the first to engage. The risk is that he only has one season of serious production despite being a five-year college player at Oregon and LSU. However, this past year he was confident and ready for his opportunity now that it had finally arrived, and he made the most of it by recording 8.5 sacks, two forced fumbles, and even three pass deflections," Adams writes.
