Despite having retired from football, former New England Patriots legend Julian Edelman seems to be looking towards soccer as a possible career path.
But don't worry. It's all a joke.
On Monday, it was announced that the Saudi Arabian soccer team Al Hilal made a record $332 million bid for France star Kylian Mbappe. And a lot of athletes have since reacted to the news.
It began with Milwaukee Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo joking offered himself to Al Hilal, claiming he "looks like Kylian Mbappe."
And just for comparison, Antetokounmpo signed a five-year, $228 million supermax extension with the Bucks in 2020.
Edelman decided to join in on the fun, saying "I look nothing like Mbappe and played a different kind of football. That being said I'm available."
Mbappe's offer from Al Hilal is over $100 million more than what Antetokounmpo makes. However it is clear that the 2018 World Cup winner is not interested in the offer, instead expected to walk away in free agency and join Real Madrid.
As for Edelman, he retired from football on April 12, 2021, having suffered knee injuries during his 12 seasons with the Patriots.
Yet that's doesn't appear to be stopping him anymore.
So maybe they will take the three-time Super Bowl champion instead.
