FOXBOROUGH, Mass – On Sunday night, Buffalo Bills running back Damien Harris suffered a scary injury during their game against the New York Giants.

The former New England Patriot was tackled during the second quarter and couldn't get up. He was put onto a stretched and loaded onto an ambulance on the field before being taken to a local hospital. He was diagnosed with a neck sprain and a concussion.

Patriots quarterback Mac Jones, who played with Harris for two season in New England, was asked if he had seen the injury and if he has reached out to the running back.

“I texted him and it sounds like he’s doing good,” Jones said. “Damien is definitely one of my good friends and he’s a great football player and has played a lot of plays in this league and for us as a Patriot. I have a lot of respect for him and his family.”

Harris gave a thumbs up as he was being loaded into the ambulance, letting his teammates know he is going to be ok.

On Monday, Bills coach Sean McDermott provided a crucial update on Harris' status.

"I know you guys are probably going to want injury updates," he told the media. "Things are heading in a good direction for Damien… It's my understanding it's full movement right now."

Following McDermott's update, the Bills got an every better one after finding out that Harris was released from the hospital with neck pain, "but otherwise is going to be fine."

This injury brought back memories of Damar Hamlin's terrifying incident last season, after the Bills safety nearly died on the football field. However, Harris' signal to the team provided some comfort as he was taken away. And Hamlin had a very emotional response when watching what happened on the field.

Harris began his career with the Patriots, being drafted in the third round of the 2019 NFL Draft. He shined while in New England, but left to join the Bills on a one-year deal following the 2022 season. This season, Harris has 22 carries for 93 yards and one touchdown.

Throughout his five years in the league, he has a total of 471 carries for 2,187 rushing yards and 21 rushing touchdowns, along with 42 receptions for 297 receiving yards.
