The New England Patriots will be without their standout pass rusher for a while.
During Sunday's loss to the Dallas Cowboys, Matthew Judon suffered a lower bicep tendon tear. Now, more information has come to light regarding his recovery.
ESPN's Adam Schefter reports that Judon will undergo surgery on his torn bicep this Wednesday.
It was further reported that Judon is expected to try and come back to play, but it is unknown at this time if that is a realistic possibility.
Judon went down in the fourth quarter and remained there until trainers came over to check on him. He got up and headed straight for the blue medical tent holding his right arm and headed to the locker room soon after.
This is a big loss for the Patriots, with Judon being a key piece of the defense since joining the Patriots in 2021.
He even received a contract adjustment during the preseason, earning $14 million fully guaranteed with no additional years added.
So far this season, Judon has recorded nine solo tackles (12 total) in three games with four sacks.
This was just one of two major injuries to the defense on Sunday, with rookie cornerback Christian Gonzalez also going down.
The Patriots will have to find a way to make up for losing Judon for the time being, and it will be interesting to see who steps up in his absense.
