New England Patriots linebacker Matthew Judon has certainly raised many eyebrows with his latest tweet.
The Pro Bowler took to Twitter on Saturday afternoon, writing "GM of the year?"
This tweet came just days after Hopkins visited with the Patriots, and the wide receiver definitely had contact with Judon. Hopkins posted a photo to his Instagram story alongside Judon in the Patriots locker room, writing "La Familia."
Mack Wilson Sr., who has also been looking to recruit Hopkins, responded to Judon's tweet with the saluting emoji.
A fan then commented back, writing "Bro… like this if it’s what we think it is," to which Wilson Sr. responded with a gif of DeAndre Hopkins saying "Ahhhhh…"
Regardless, it seems fairly strategic to use a gif of the player everyone is speculating about.
Judon is known for his recruiting ways, tweeting out on June 10 that he is willing to pay $500 to a charity of the star receiver's choosing if he signs with the Patriots. A few other players (current and former) joined in on the fun.
However, following mandatory minicamp on Tuesday, Judon denied ever sending the tweet addressed towards Hopkins and instead backed his own receivers.
Yet, since posing for the photo during Hopkins' visit, Judon has since provided a little more detail into what stands out about the star receiver.
“He still has that decision to make to where he wants to play,” Judon said to WPRI-TV’s JP Smollins at a charity event in Rhode Island on Thursday night. “But he’s a very talented football player. Everything that he’s done in his career can’t be taken away from him. So, if he wants to join the team, we’ll love to have him. But if not, we’ve played him before, so we know how to guard him as well.”
The Patriots have over $14 million in salary cap space which fits with the expected amount that Hopkins is asking for. Yet, it is expected that he will not making a decision until closer to training camp.
But all signs seems to look positive for the Patriots.
