It's no secret that the New England Patriots were interested in DK Metcalf if he became available. However, there was one thing that seemed to get in the way.

And that was Metcalf wanted to play in a warmer location.

However, that didn't happen, and instead Metcalf was traded to a team that doesn't have a set quarterback yet. (Not the best look for the Patriots.)

Multiple sources report that the Pittsburgh Steelers are acquiring Metcalf from the Seattle Seahawks in exchange for a 2025 second round pick. They also swapped late-round picks.

The Steelers then signed him to a five year, $150 million extension.

The Seahawks originally made it clear that they intended to keep Metcalf for the final season of his three-year, $72 million deal. However, Metcalf was the one that ultimately requested a trade.

And while he had things he wanted from a new team, the Seahawks went with the team that gave them the best return. At least Metcalf got the contract he was hoping for.

That's another top receiver the Patriots will be unable to get this offseason.
