FOXBOROUGH, Mass – It's hard to think that there are any positives for the New England Patriots after their latest loss to the Los Angeles Chargers.
For the second time this season, the Patriots were shutout at home despite the defense only allowing six points. In what was a very winnable game for New England, they couldn't figure things out.
But hey, fans do have one thing they can celebrate after the loss.
The Patriots have now officially moved up in the NFL Draft order for 2024, currently holding the No. 2 overall spot. The loss combined with an Arizona Cardinals win put them in a better position.
The Cardinals were facing the Pittsburgh Steelers and despite two delays in the game due to weather, they were able to dominate and earn the victory.
Steelers quarterback Kenny Pickett also left the game early with an ankle injury, which is something New England will also have to monitor as they are set to travel and face them in just four short days for Thursday Night Football.
Including their upcoming matchup against the Steelers, the Patriots have five games remaining this season. And among those games, they are playing the Kansas City Chiefs, the Denver Broncos, the Buffalo Bills, and the New York Jets.
The Chiefs are a team that are considered to be serious Super Bowl contenders. The Broncos have shown improvement during the second half of the season despite having suffered a loss on Sunday. And the Bills are always a tough divisional matchup, and will be even harder as Buffalo wants to avenge their earlier loss to the Patriots this season.
The Jets are a team that has just as many struggles as New England this season, so who knows what will happen there.
Let's see if they can keep this high draft pick.
