It seems the New England Patriots have one remaining roster spot open after the latest news.

After claiming nose tackle Marquan McCall off waivers on Tuesday, the Patriots “have failed him on his physical due to a knee issue they flagged,” NFL Insider Jordan Schultz reports

McCall returns to waivers despite not having missed any time with the injury.

The 342-pound nose tackle signed with the Carolina Panthers as an undrafted free agent in 2022, making the 53-man roster and playing in 16 games.

To make room for McCall, the Patriots waived wide receiver Tre Nixon with an injury designation.

After canceling joint practices with the Tennessee Titans this week following the scary injury to Isaiah Bolden during the preseason win over the Green Bay Packers.

After spending the last few days practicing at Gillette Stadium, New England will now travel to Tennessee for its final preseason game against the Titans on Friday.
