The New England Patriots have been all the talk as of late, as the team dropped to a 1-4 record on Sunday after getting shutout by the New Orleans Saints.
While no one truly considered the Patriots to be Super Bowl contenders this season with all the changes they made, no one saw them struggling as much as they have. And analysts across the sports industry have been talking about this constantly.
However, there is one story that has seemed to grasp everyone's attention just a little bit more.
ESPN Analyst Mike Greenberg ranked his top five surprises in the NFL this season, and the Patriots ranked second.
So who earned the top spot?
Taylor Swift, of course!
Swift's name took over NFL headlines after Travis Kelce sent a message to the star earlier this year, saying, "I've seen you rock the stage at Arrowhead. You might have to come see me rock the stage at Arrowhead and see which one's a little more lit."
And she did just that, appearing at the Chiefs' Week 3 game against the Chicago Bears to watch Travis Kelce play, sighting in his suite beside his mom, Donna Kelce. And when Kelce scored, Swift's reaction was unmatched, as she was jumping up and down, cheering. She even shouted "let's fu**ing go" following the impressive play.
The two were seen leaving the stadium together following the game, and since they she was at MetLife Stadium for the Chiefs' game against the New York Jets. Swift will also be at Arrowhead on Thursday night for their primetime game against the Denver Broncos.
Swift's impact on the NFL has been one that Greenberg and all others never saw coming.
Kelce's jersey sales skyrocketed, showing nearly a 400% spike after the rumors of their romance began. The NFL has also tried to appeal to all the Swifties, changing their Instagram bios following the two Chiefs game she was in attendance for. And of course, there has been increased viewership during the games, with fans hoping to catch a quick glimpse of Swift.
And to top it all off, Patriots head coach Bill Belichick even commented on the whole thing.
"Travis Kelce has had a lot of big catches in his career," Belichick said during an appearance on WEEI in September. "This would be the biggest.”
While some NFL fans who are fed up with the Swift narrative might be thinking she Should've Said No, the Patriots can view this as a positive. Kelce and Swift's Love Story has somewhat overshadowed the Question…? of what is happening in New England right now.
