JuJu Smith-Schuster, Patriots Training Camp

JuJu Smith-Schuster's season is officially over.

Multiple sources report that the New England Patriots placed the wide receiver on injured reserve before their Week 17 matchup against the Buffalo Bills

Smith-Schuster finishes his first year in New England with 29 catches for 260 yards and 1 TD across 11 games.

The Patriots signed him to a three year, $33 million deal prior to the 2023 season. However, the receiver hasn't performed to the level that was expected.

And what this move even more controversial was they decided to sign Smith-Schuster instead of bringing back Jakobi Meyers.

During training camp, the former Chiefs receiver detailed why he made the decision to come to Foxborough.

“When they got OB. When they got Bill O’Brien it was kind of like a no brainer," Smith-Schuster told reporters. "Just because I know how this system is and how it works and how he works the offense and Belichick as he is, as a head coach. And to bring OB in and to bring Mike and all those other guys, all these key pieces, it was kind of like wow it’s a great fit for me.”

With the additional spot now open on the active roster, the Patriots signed safety Joshuah Bledsoe to the 53-man roster. Bledsoe is expected to help add additional depth with Jabrill Peppers ruled out on Saturday. Kayshon Boutte was also ruled out.

They also activated tight end Matt Sokol and offensive tackle Andrew Stueber prior to their game on Sunday.
