The New England Patriots have found their veteran quarterback.
ESPN's Jeremy Fowler reports that the Patriots will sign quarterback Jacoby Brissett.
He has been the best rumored choice for the Patriots who were in need of a veteran quarterback in the room. And now he joins Bailey Zappe and Nathan Rourke on the roster.
The Boston Herald's Doug Kyed added that the Patriots plan to use Brissett as a veteran bridge/backup quarterback.
And this also paves the way for the Patriots to select a quarterback with the No. 3 overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft. So Drake Maye or Jayden Daniels could be in New England next season.
Brissett began his career with the Patriots as a third round pick in 2016. However, after one season, he went to the Indianapolis Colts from four seasons. In 2021 he signed a one-year deal with the Miami Dolphins, and in 2022, he went to the Cleveland Browns, having played under new Patriots offensive coordinator Alex Van Pelt.
And now he's back where it all began.
Brissett is on a one-year, $8 million deal worth up to $12 million with incentives.
This comes after the Patriots traded Mac Jones. So now all that's left is to find a starting quarterback. And he is most likely going to be from the NFL Draft.
