Things have not gone the way Bill Belichick would like in the last few years. And because of that, people have begun to speculate and voice their opinions on what the Patriots should do regarding their head coach.
Yet, one thing has not changed. And that is how the players view the New England Patriots head coach inside the locker room.
"There's going to be chatter and whatnot, but inside of our locker room no one is in here questioning Bill Belichick," Patriots captain Matthew Slater said on WEEI's Jones & Mego (via Mike Kadlick).
Deatrich Wise shared similar sentiments when asked after Sunday's loss to the Dallas Cowboys.
"I don’t know about his job status. I’m not the GM or the owner," Wise said. "Bill has brought New England and football so many great historic moments for 20 years. I don’t what anybody is talking about. He is a great coach. We’re behind him. We’re going to play for him. He’s going to keep coaching us. I do anything he says.”
Belichick has helped lead the Patriots to six Super Bowl championships since he took over as head coach in 2000. Yet, that all seems to have been forgotten with New England's latest struggles.
The coach has always been known for his sullen demeanor and controversial decisions, but that has worked for him in the past. However, losing Tom Brady was a major change for the team and one that was going to take time to recover from.
While I know Belichick along with the fanbase hoped to have it figured out by now, his accomplishments shouldn't be forgotten.
And it's clear that the players in the locker room are very aware of this and are continue to rally behind their coach going forward.
