EAST RUTHERFORD, NJ – Matthew Judon has been a menace this season and Sunday was no different.
The New England Patriots linebacker recorded two sacks in the win over the New York Jets, and one of those helped the team get a few more points on the board.
In the fourth quarter, Judon was able to get around Jets left tackle Mekhi Becton and made his way to quarterback Zach Wilson who had dropped into the end zone. Wilson had no time to react as Judon took him down resulting in a safety for the Patriots.
"It was good to get that and get some points for myself," Judon said after the game.
And his teammates couldn't help but smile when asked about the play in the locker room.
Here is what they said:
Deatrich Wise Jr.
"I was pumped. I was thrilled. We collapsed the pocket. He ended up being that guy. It was just, we just knew that at that point we did our job to stop the offense."
Jalen Mills
"Oh start waving to the fans because it's over with. I mean I'm joking. But, it was good to see. We talked about this whole week accountability, one play at a time and stepping up for your brother and that was big for us. We needed it."
Jahlani Tavai
"First of all, you got to talk to (Adrian Phillips) because I called that play. I knew that was gonna happen. But it just brings that excitement on the sideline. You saw everybody's energy boost up after that. Big time players make good time plays. It was great on Judon to come up for us on that."
"I just had a felling, a gut feeling. I was like 'oh we're going to get a safety right here.' AP will vouch for me for that because I literally turned and told him."
Christian Gonzalez
"Great to just see him. That's what he does is make big plays in big time games. he does a lot for us in the back end."
