Asante Samuel did a good job Thursday of ensuring he’s one of the least popular former New England Patriots when he took a major shot at head coach Bill Belichick.

Out of the clouds, Samuel tweeted, “Lamar Jackson, my brother trust me you don’t want to play for Belichick.”

That came on the heels of Patriots owner Robert Kraft announcing earlier this week that rapper Meek Mill told him Jackson wanted to play for the Patriots. Jackson was franchise tagged by the Baltimore Ravens this offseason and tweeted Monday that he had requested a trade earlier this month.

Patriots current edge defender Matthew Judon came to the rescue Thursday, quote-tweeting Samuel, “Hush up. It’s different over here.”

Judon, a former teammate of Jackson’s with the Ravens, has attempted to recruit players to the Patriots over the last two years. He was asked earlier this week about playing with Jackson, and he said he believes New England can win with current quarterbacks Mac Jones and Bailey Zappe.

Trading for Jackson is an unlikely scenario for New England, but it would make them more competitive in the AFC East.
