After an impressive performance on Thursday, Malik Cunningham is still being talked about heading into a new week.

The undrafted rookie quarterback out of Louisville has been in the process of switching to receiver, but after coming in as quarterback during Thursday's 20-9 preseason loss to the Houston Texans, he is proving to be a versatile offensive weapon.

And during Sunday's practice, he was taken reps behind David Andrews who gave him high praise.

"Obviously he came in, did a good job," Andrews said. "Played quarterback at Louisville so I guess he got some stuff."

"He, like every other rookie, getting a lot thrown at him." Andrews added. "Just trying to take it day by day and he obviously can do some different things."

On Thursday Cunningham began the game at receiver, but when he came in as quarterback during the fourth quarter, the offense had a newfound spark.

Cunningham was responsible for the drive that would reward the Patriots with their only touchdown of the night.

"It's fun," Smith-Schuster said about watching Cunningham. "He's electric when the football is in his hands. As a quarterback, he's a very dangerous player, as you can see this past Thursday night.

"But he's a guy who's been doing it in college, so it's, I guess, second nature to him to do that," Smith-Schuster added. "I think he's probably more still trying to work on that receiver side, which he's come a long way when we started OTAs to where we're at now. He's doing really well."

While the Patriots have four quarterbacks currently on the roster, Cunningham is vying for one of the active-roster spots and Thursday's performance certainly make him an even stronger candidate.
