Sticking with the same system as they have used in past years, the New England Patriots have released the temporary rookie numbers heading into their organized training activities and minicamp practices.

The rookies get assigned a number in the 50s, 60s, or 70s to start, but will get a real number assigned once the preseason begins. This announcement came right after the Patriots announced new veteran players' numbers. 

Christian Gonzalez has made his choice of number fairly obvious since signing with the Patriots, wanting to wear No. 0 since that is what he wore at Oregon, but will begin with No. 50.
