On Friday night, the Kansas City Chiefs finalized a deal to trade cornerback L'Jarius Snead to the Tennessee Titans, ESPN's Adam Schefter reports.
But apparently the Titans weren't the only team that showed interest in the two-time Super Bowl champion.
The Athletic's Dianna Russini added that the Minnesota Vikings, Indianapolis Colts, and the New England Patriots "poked around" on Sneed these past few weeks, but it was ultimately the Titans who won.
USA Today reported earlier this month that the Patriots were one of seven teams to “have expressed interest” in Sneed. MassLive's Mark Daniels added that the Patriots were doing ‘due diligence’ on the cornerback.
But ultimately it was Tennessee that landed him.
In exchange for Sneed, the Titans sent a 2025 third-round pick and a 2024 seventh-round pick to the Chiefs. And Sneed's new contract with the Titans pays the cornerback $19 million a year, including $55 million in guarantees, per Bleacher Report's Jordan Schultz.
This is now the second big name star that the Patriots have lost to the Titans this offseason, with Tennessee having signed receiver Calvin Ridley this month.
And this comes after the Chiefs played the franchise tag on him, but allowed Sneed to seek a trade.
Sneed has spent his entire career with the Chiefs, being selected in the fourth round of the 2020 NFL Draft. Across his four seasons in Kansas City, he recorded 303 total tackles, 6.5 sacks, four forced fumbles, three fumble recoveries, and 10 interceptions.
