The New England Patriots wasted no time filling the open roster spot.
Bleacher Report's Jordan Schultz reports that the Patriots have signed rookie cornerback Alex Austin to the active roster.
The Patriots had an open spot after placing Kendrick Bourne on injured reserve, with the receiver having torn his ACL in the loss to the Miami Dolphins on Sunday.
Austin was drafted by the Buffalo Bills in the seventh round of the 2023 NFL Draft. However, he was waived as part of final roster cuts.
The Houston Texans claimed the cornerback off waivers and he remained on the 53-man roster until mid-October until he was waived once again and re-signed to the practice squad. Yet, on Wednesday, he was released.
While he appeared in three games for the Texans, Austin didn’t record any defensive stats.
During his last season at Oregon State, Austin recorded two sacks, one interception and 57 tackles last season at Oregon State.
