The New England Patriots had a much lighter practice on Monday in preparation to host the Philadelphia Eagles for a joint practice.
The team took the field in just their shells and the session wrapped up much earlier than usual. But of course, we picked up on some important moments from the practice.
So here are A to Z Sports' observations from Day 13 of training camp.
1. No team reps for Bailey Zappe
In the first preseason game against the Carolina Panthers, Zappe got a lot of minutes. But when the team returned to the field on Sunday in preparation for the Eagles, Zappe's play time was limited.
And during Monday's practice, he didn't take a single rep during team drills.
This could mean that as the season gets closer, Mayo is going to lean more on veteran Jacoby Brissett along with rookie Drake Maye. And of course, there is Joe Milton.
The rookies are transitioning from college to the NFL and could use the additional snaps.
So we'll see what happens during joint practice on Tuesday and then again on Thursday during the second preseason game.
2. 7th Straight Day at LT for Lowe
It appears the Patriots may have figured out their starting offensive line. Or at least, that's what it seems considering the configuration they've used during training camp over the past week.
Vederian Lowe spent the seventh straight day starting at left tackle, with Chukwuma Okorafor on the right side.
LT: Vederian Lowe
LG: Sidy Sow
C: David Andrews
RG: Mike Onwenu
RT: Chukwuma Okorafor
3. Where is Hunter Henry?
The Patriots top tight end departed practice on Sunday with an apparent injury. And then on Monday, Henry was nowhere to be found on the field.
This is concerning considering he is a key weapon for the offense, but it also meant that the other tight ends on the roster got an opportunity to prove themselves.
Austin Hooper took over as No. 1, but the spot behind him is still a question.
4. Dell Pettus continues to impress
The undrafted safety has had a really solid camp and if any UDFA is going to make the roster, Pettus has the best chance at this point.
On Monday, Joe Giles-Harris tipped a pass from Joe Milton and Pettus was right next to him, snagging the ball before it hit the ground for the interception.
5. Laps for the defense
Sloppy!
That's what led to the defense running two laps in the span of 10 minutes during practice. One of them was becayse of Deatrich Wise jumping offsides.
Mayo was not happy, so this is something they better clean up.
6. Play of the Day
Brissett located wide receiver Jalen Reagor in the right corner of the end zone, with Christian Gonzalez in coverage. Brissett sent the pass high, and Reagor was able to grab it and get two feet down before falling out of bounds.
Touchdown!
7. Quarterback Stats
11v11s
Jacoby Brissett: 6/9
Drake Maye: 5/8
Joe Milton: 1/5, INT
7v7s
Jacoby Brissett: 2/5
Drake Maye: 3/6
