Ugly.
That is the only way to describe this game for the New England Patriots.
And Mac Jones and the offense were to blame for most of that. Too many careless mistakes and poor decisions led to the Cowboys jumping out to an early lead that they only continued to add to.
Even at the half, no fans could enjoy the fact that the score was 28-3 (queue the memories of Super Bowl LI).
And it just went downhill from there.
FINAL SCORE: Patriots 3, Cowboys 38
Notable Plays
First Quarter
– After an impressive opening drive, Cowboys' kicker Brandon Aubrey nails a 23-yard field goal to put Dallas on the board.
– Mac Jones spins out and hits Demario Douglas after finding the rookie wide open. He made the catch and executed a spin move that tricked Donovan Wilson and allowed him to run for a serious game, providing the Patriots with 42 yards.
Soon after the Patriots were in prime position, but Jones' throw to Mike Gesicki was just out of reach as the tight end couldn't haul it in. Chad Ryland came out and hit a 29-yard field goal to tie the game up at three.
– Top cornerback Christian Gonzalez appeared injured after tackling Tony Pollard and was helped off the field by the trainers, taken immediately into the blue medical tent. On the following play, fellow cornerback gave up a touchdown to Cowboys' receiver CeeDee Lamb.
Second Quarter
– Mac Jones was strip sacked by Dante Fowler and the Cowboys recovered for a touchdown.
They didn't stop after punter Bryan Anger executed a fake punt and hit DE Chauncy Golston for the 2-point conversion.
– The defense once again did their job, holding the Cowboys to another field goal and Brandon Aubrey delivered hitting a 23-yard field goal to put the Cowboys up 21-3.
– Mac Jones made the ultimate mistake towards the end of the first half, throwing across the field. While it worked earlier, the Cowboys defense read the play perfectly and capitalized on the mistake.
DeRon Bland intercepted the pass intended for Kendrick Bourne and took it to the house for a 54-yard touchdown.
HALFTIME SCORE: Patriots 3, Cowboys 28
Third Quarter
– Mac Jones continued to struggle despite needing a miracle to bring them back into the game. Once again, it was DeRon Bland who picked off a poor pass from Mac Jones that was intended for JuJu Smith-Schuster. While it wasn't a pick-6 this time (thank god for minor miracles), things weren't getting any better.
– The Cowboys make another field goal after Aubrey nails a 33-yarder.
– Bailey Zappe replaced Mac Jones during the third quarter after his struggling performance
Fourth Quarter
-Matthew Judon went down and remained there until trainers came over to check him out. He got up and headed straight for the blue medical tent holding his right arm. He headed to the locker room soon after.
Judon was listed as doubtful to return.
– The Cowboys added another seven points to the board after Prescott connected with tight end Hunter Luepke. The extra point was good.
-Chad Ryland came out for a 52-yard attempt, but it was unsuccessful.

Observations:
– Patriots lost the toss and Dallas elected to receive
– After going down in the first quarter, Gonzalez was taken into the blue medical tent, but quickly emerged and headed to the locker room.
-Micah Parsons also had stint in the medical tent, reportedly dealing with a foot injury.
– It was a rough day for Mike Onwenu who had three penalties, being called for two false starts and a hold in the first half.
