All the New England Patriots' 2025 Draft picks were out for the first day of rookie minicamp except for one.
Running back TreVeyon Henderson, who the Patriots selected with the second round pick, was missing in action. However, ESPN's Mike Reiss provided some details on how the team felt about his absence.
"No reason was given by the team, although a team source said it wasn't a major concern," Reiss wrote in his Sunday column.
However, while he wasn't there on Friday, the Patriots posted a video of Henderson arriving with his helmet on for Saturday's session.
There still is no definite reason regarding his absence, but he is among three players who have yet to sign their rookie contracts. However, left tackle Will Campbell and safety Craig Woodson are the other two, but they were both in attendance.
Henderson was one of the most surprising picks by New England in the draft, simply because running back wasn't the team's top need. However, it seems they thought Henderson was too good to pass up on, taking the best player available instead of a player for need.
And ESPN's Field Yates seemed to agree with that decision, ranking the top 10 players on each side of the ball selected in rounds two through seven who have the best chance to make an impact in their first season.
Yates had Henderson ranked at fifth.
"Henderson is one of the most explosive players in the rookie class, and he will be a big-time factor on third down in New England because of his pass-catching and pass-protecting traits," Yates wrote. "He provided the lightning to Judkins' thunder for Ohio State last season, and I see a similar profile with the Patriots. Henderson could complement Rhamondre Stevenson well in New England. He provides instant offense as a runner and receiver."
