FOXBOROUGH, Mass – These last few years have been tough in New England.

Fans got so used to the Patriots' winning ways, so when Tom Brady left, no one was prepared for how quickly the team would decline. And now three years later, it has reached the lowest possible point.

The Patriots finished with a 4-13 record, with clear issues in numerous aspects of the organization showing. So when the season ended, owner Robert Kraft made a very difficult decision.

He and Bill Belichick decided to go their separate ways. And not even a day after that announcement was made, it was announced that Jerod Mayo would become the 15th head coach in franchise history.

When speaking to reporters the day before the official report about Mayo, Kraft made it clear that his decision for who would be the next head coach would be based off one main thing: who could get them back to their winning ways.

So at Mayo's introductory press conference, Kraft echoed those sentiments in the best way possible.

"I think we're ready to kick butt," he said with a smile.

Along with Kraft, it's safe to say that all fans feel the exact same way.

Mayo has so much support around him, with current and former players taking to social media and congratulating him when the announcement was first made public. At the press conference on Wednesday, quarterback Mac Jones, linebacker Ja'Whaun Bentley, CB Jonathan Jones, and linebacker Josh Uche were all in attendance.

Even Devin McCourty made a surprise appearance too.

So with all the support around him, Mayo is primed for success. And while it won't be an easy process, everyone will want to play their best for him.

So let's see if they truly get back to "kicking butt."
