The 2001-02 season for the New England Patriots was what started everything.
And the Patriots' win over the Saint Louis Rams in Super Bowl XXXVI will go down in history since New England was big underdogs prior to the game. They proved everybody wrong.
So when they paraded through the streets of Boston after the win, getting to celebrate this moment with the Patriots fans who had waited so long, it was exactly what Robert Kraft had dreamed of when he purchased the team.
Kraft recalled a specific moment from the parade during a video posted by the Patriots on the 30th anniversary of Kraft taking over. And it involved Ty Law.
The Patriots cornerback took the microphone after the win and Kraft will never forget that speech.
"Time of tremendous celebration at City Hall Plaza. Only Ty Law could make certain things happen or say things," he recalled. "He had the ability to articulate certain phrases, more uniquely and more spirited than almost anyone I know.”
During the speech, Law gave a shout-out to the Patriots owner.
"Can I get an ownership, I own the team, I play all y’all fools’ money, can I get a little dance,” Law asked in 2002.
And Kraft actually did it.
Someone captured the perfect photo from that moment and Law actually gifted it to Kraft.
“I have that up in my office. He signed that to me, ‘Who said white men can’t dance?’”
