Tony Romo used one phrase during the New England Patriots matchup against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday that had everyone doing a double-take.

During the second quarter of the game, Romo said that the Patriots’ defense is “DTF,” but he didn’t mean it in the way one might think. Instead, he said it stood for “Details, toughness, and they finish.”

“Fundamentally sound … this team is DTF, Jim,” Romo said to Jim Nantz during the broadcast. “The Patriots — details, toughness, and they finish.”

Nantz replied: “That’s very close to what (Mike) Vrabel tells ’em, too,” adding that the “T” in  Romo’s acronym could also stand for “technique.”

Romo might have to look up what this acronym typically stands for, considering the reaction this has received.

Internet reacts to Tony Romo’s ‘DTF’ comment

“Did Tony Romo just say the Patriots are DTF?” one fan wrote, including a gif from the hit show Jersey Shore, where the phrase was made popular.

“Okay who told Tony Romo that’s what “dtf” means,” Patriots reporter Meghan Ottolini posted.

“I’m gonna guess he isn’t aware of the millennial understanding of what DTF means loooooollll,” another person commented.

“Wasn’t on my bingo card to hear Tony Romo say DTF,” a fan stated.
