Travis Kelce has a lot of respect for Bill Belichick. And he made it clear after Sunday's game against the New England Patriots.
The Kansas City Chiefs earned the win over the Patriots, but Kelce still took some time to show his respect for arguably the greatest coach in the history of the National Football League.
“I’ve just got all the respect in the world for that guy," Kelce said. "Every single time I go up against him – it’s the toughest job in the NFL, to go up against a Bill Belichick defense. He throws so much at you. He always has a lot of guys that can play smart, so hats off to Belichick for today, for making my life tough, that’s for damn sure."
There are a lot of rumors about Belichick swirling around at the moment regarding his future as a coach. And specifically if he will remain with the Patriots.
Kelce was also asked by NESN's Sean McGuire what he thinks about the fact that this could be the final time he plays at Gillette Stadium where Belichick is coaching the home team.
"The fact you just said that, I mean yeah, that’s wild to even think about," Kelce said. "But I got a feeling that guy has some football left in him.”
Kelce wasn't kidding when he said that a Belichick-led defense is tough to play against. He was held to five receptions for 28 yards.
But while the defense did a solid job of covering him, others managed to get open and that included rookie Rashee Rice.
Despite the Chiefs' struggles in recent weeks, the reigning Super Bowl champions always prove tough to play against. So for the Patriots to put up 17 points against Andy Reid and the Chiefs, it can still be viewed as a victory for New England.
Kelce, like the rest of the world (outside of New England) cannot believe the current rumors about Belichick's time with the Patriots potentially coming to an end.
So Kelce's message to owner Robert Kraft is loud and clear: there is no one tougher to go up against then Belichick.
