With the 2025 NFL Draft complete and the undrafted free agents all reported, the New England Patriots initial 90-man roster is set. And that means it's time for a way-too-early depth chart.

The team has a lot of rookies who have a lot of talent and can make a serious push to earn a spot on the roster over the summer. And with all the changes the Patriots have already made to the roster, it's looking like Mike Vrabel is focusing more on youth.

Here is the first of many depth charts this offseason that will shape the 53-man roster is here:

Note: Players with a single asterisk (*) are 2025 draft picks and players with double asterisks (**) are 2025 undrafted free agents.

New England Patriots 90-Man Roster Depth Chart

Quarterback

  • Starter: Drake Maye
  • Backups: Josh Dobbs, Ben Wooldridge**

The skinny: This one is pretty self-explanatory. There's no question that Drake Maye is the starter, and the Patriots brought in Josh Dobbs this offseason to serve as the backup along with having a veteran presence in the room. Trading Joe Milton III to the Cowboys solidified that Dobbs it the backup. New England also signed undrafted free agent quarterback Ben Wooldridge out of Louisiana.

Running Back

  • Starter: Rhamondre Stevenson
  • Depth: TreVeyon Henderson*, Antonio Gibson, Lan Larison**, Terrell Jennings, Brock Lampe**

The skinny: While the Patriots did use their second round pick on TreVeyon Henderson, at this moment, there isn't enough to say that the Ohio State alum is above Rhamondre Stevenson on the depth chart. The coaching staff has expressed faith in Stevenson this offseason despite his struggles last season, so that's why he remains the starter, but training camp can always change things.

Wide Receiver

  • Starter: Stefon Diggs, Demario Douglas, Kyle Williams*
  • Depth: Mack Hollins, Kendrick Bourne, Ja’Lynn Polk, Javon Baker, Demeer Blankumsee**, Kayshon Boutte, Efton Chism**, Jeremiah Webb**, John Jiles

The skinny: Stefon Diggs has been very open about his ACL recovery and has made it clear that he intends to be ready to go by the start of the 2025 season. He is the most experienced and established receiver on the roster. As for DeMario Douglas, he has proven himself to be a top slot receiver for New England since he was drafted in 2023, and then finally the Patriots used their third round pick on Kyle Williams, who takes that third starter spot.

Tight End

  • Starter: Hunter Henry
  • Depth: Austin Hooper, C.J. Dippre**, Jaheim Bell, Jack Westover, Gee Scott Jr.**

The skinny: This one is no surprise either. Hunter Henry is the clear starter, having proven himself to be a leader on and off the field. As for Austin Hooper, the Patriots re-signed him this offseason.

Offensive Tackle

  • Starters: Morgan Moses, Will Campbell
  • Depth: Vederian Lowe, Demontrey Jacobs, Caedan Wallace, Marcus Bryant*

The skinny: The Patriots made two big additions this offseason, starting with signing starting right tackle Morgan Moses. They then addressed their need at left tackle when drafting Will Campbell in the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft. Marcus Bryant was a later pick in the draft who will fight for one of the backup spots. Caedan Wallace struggled through injury his rookie season, but is an important depth piece as is Vederian Lowe and Demontry Jacobs.

Interior Offensive Line

  • Starters: Mike Onwenu, Garrett Bradbury, Cole Strange
  • Depth: Layden Robinson, Jared Wilson*, Ben Brown, Sidy Sow, Wes Schweitzer, Jack Conley**, Tyrese Robinson

The skinny: Now that the Patriots have multiple options at center, it gives Cole Strange the opportunity to spend more time at his primary position of guard. On the other side, Mike Onwenu can also spend an entire season at guard rather than being moved all around like last year. And then, New England brought in Garrett Bradbury who is the projected starter. Jared Wilson was selected by the Patriots, but he will have the opportunity to develop behind a proven veteran.

Interior Defensive Line

  • Starters: Milton Williams, Keion White, Christian Barmore
  • Depth: Joshua Farmer, Jeremiah Pharms Jr., Eric Johnson, Wilfried Pene**, Truman Jones, Jahvaree Ritzie**, Jaquelin Roy, Khyiris Tonga

The skinny: The Patriots brought in Milton Williams this offseason, giving him the biggest contract in franchise history, so it's no secret that he has one of the starting spots locked down. Keion White has been a force since he was drafted and is expected to breakout under the new coaching staff. The Patriots selected Joshua Famer, who has a chip on his shoulder and is ready to prove the rest of the team's wrong for passing over him in the draft. And then finally, Christian Barmore's status remains unknown due to the blood clots, but he has been working towards returning.

Edge Defender

  • Starters: Harold Landry, K'Lavon Chaisson
  • Depth: Bradyn Swinson*, Anfernee Jennings, Truman Jones, Elijah Ponder**

The skinny:  Bradyn Swinson will be competing with K'Lavon Chaisson for that spot opposite Harold Landry, but at this moment it's Chaisson just because Swinson hasn't shown what he can do at the NFL level. But training camp will be the true test.

Linebacker

  • Starters: Robert Spillane, Jack Gibbens
  • Depth: Christian Elliss, Monty Rice, Jahlani Tavai, Cam Riley

The skinny: While the Patriots extended Christian Elliss, he is core special teamer. And based on the offseason additions, Robert Spillane and Jack Gibbens are ahead on the depth chart.

Cornerback

  • Starters: Christian Gonzalez, Carlton Davis
  • Depth: Marcus Jones, Kobee Minor*, Alex Austin, D.J. James, Brandon Crossley**, Marcellas Dial, Miles Battle, Isaiah Bolden

The skinny: This one is also self explanatory. Christian Gonzalez and Carlton Davis have the starting spots basically locked down, but the players behind will fill in as depth.

Safety

  • Starters: Kyle Dugger, Jabrill Peppers
  • Depth: Marcus Epps, Brenden Schooler, Craig Woodson*, Jaylinn Hawkins, Josh Minkins**, Jordan Polk**, Dell Pettus, Marte Mapu

The skinny: This is one of the most talented rooms on the team at the minute, but based on their level of play, Kyle Dugger and Jabrill Peppers are top of the depth chart. Brenden Schooler will remain as the key special teamer, while rookie Craig Woodson will look to carve out a spot for himself. Jaylinn Hawkins, Marte Mapu, and Dell Pettus all deserve a place on the roster, but will be competing in training camp as there aren't enough spots.

Specialists

  • Starters: LS Julian Ashby*, P Bryce Baringer, K Andres Borregales*
  • Depth: K John Parker Romo

The skinny: The Patriots released long snapper Joe Cardona, leaving the spot open for Julian Ashby, who they drafted. The Patriots also selected a kicker, so he is likely ahead of John Parker Romo in the kicker competition.
