Why the Giants' latest news is extremely good for the Patriots

With the way this season is going for the New England Patriots, all eyes are on the 2024 NFL Draft.

Each loss means the chance of a higher pick is more likely and that also means a better chance at potentially getting one of the top prospects available.

Another team who is vying for one of those higher picks is the Giants, but the latest report out of New York could be really, really good news for the Patriots.

Bleacher Report's Jordan Schultz provided an update on Giants quarterback Daniel Jones' status heading into the 2024 season.

"Here's what I'll tell you. Daniel Jones has a $38 million guarantee next season… He will be with the Giants next season. You can book that right now," Schultz said. "I also believe and am told that barring something dramatic, barring something extreme, both Joe Schoen, the GM, and head coach Brian Daboll will also be back next season.

With Jones returning, that means the Giants would not be as likely to go for a quarterback during the draft.

And with USC's Caleb Williams and UNC's Drake Maye expected to go early on, the Patriots are even more likely to have the opportunity to draft one of them.

On Tuesday, ESPN released their 2024 NFL draft order projections with the Giants picking first, followed by the Chicago Bears and Arizona Cardinals. The Patriots are currently projected to pick fourth overall.

And when looking at each team, the Bears have Justin Fields, while the Cardinals just got Kyler Murray back.

So who knows if they will even be in the quarterback market.

This also makes the game between the Patriots and Giants in Week 12 even more important, with the two of them in the race for that higher draft pick.

Mac Jones' latest benching made it clear that his time in New England will most likely not extend past this season, so the Patriots will be in need of a top quarterback who can help turn the team around.

And based on the hype surrounding them, Williams and Maye can be that person for the team.
