One thing has become even clearer after Sunday's loss to the New England Patriots: the team has a serious quarterback problem.

Mac Jones earned the starting spot after a week of uncertainty, but he was replaced by Bailey Zappe to start the second half. However, while Zappe did a little bit better, it still wasn't enough.

So with these struggles, head coach Bill Belichick was asked on Monday morning if he plans to bring in an outside quarterback to help the team for the remainder of the season.

“Ya I don’t really see that right now," Belichick said. "But I mean, I wouldn't rule anything out. Anything that would help our team.”

"I mean we've brought in players at any position that you never know what's going to happen. If I think there's somebody, our Pro-Scouting department things there's somebody that would help us, we'll certainly listen to it and take a look at it, at any position. It's not really about the quarterback position. Really can be any position. So I don't know. Nobody that comes to mind, but we'll see."

In order to make a roster spot for Conor McDermott, the Patriots waived third-string quarterback Will Grier. While Belichick didn't rule out possibly bringing him back on the practice squad, this left only Jones and Zappe on the active roster for Sunday's game.

They also have Malik Cunningham on the practice squad, but he wasn't elevated prior to the game.

There are some free agent quarterbacks still available, but with six games remaining this season, it seems the team's planning to stick with Jones and Zappe.

That means the focus will be on drafting a top quarterback for next season.
