The New Orleans Saints are 5-4, and positives are emerging on both sides of the football.
They have plenty to improve upon, but they have plenty of opportunities to do so over the back half of the 2023 season.
What are some bold predictions for the rest of their season? Check them out below.
- The Saints run away with the NFC South, win division by at least two games
- New Orleans has taken sole possession of their division, and I don't see them looking back. They have a handful of very favorable matchups left on their schedule, including two games against the team who may provide the biggest competition in the NFC South – the Atlanta Falcons.
- The Saints also have games against the Minnesota Vikings with a backup QB, the 2-7 New York Giants, and one more versus the lowly Carolina Panthers. The Saints just need to take care of business, and the division won't be close by season's end.
- Three wide receivers record 900+ receiving yards for New Orleans
- This would be quite impressive for New Orleans' offense. After Week 9, three receivers look primed to be able to accomplish this feat.
- Michael Thomas: 439 yards
- Chris Olave: 563 yards
- Rashid Shaheed: 501 yards
- All three will finish with at least 900 yards if the passing offense continue to improve. Plus, they'll face some of the worst secondaries in the NFL in the back half of the schedule (Minnesota, Atlanta, Carolina, Tampa Bay).
- Carl Granderson gets 13+ sacks
- The recently-extended pass rusher has been the most consistent DL force for the Saints this year. Both in the pass and run game, he is making plays consistently.
- Through nine games, Granderson has 5.5 sacks. It will be tough for him to hit 13, but he is bound for a multi-sack game or two against some below-average offensive lines on the schedule. New Orleans will look very smart for signing him long-term by season's end.
These three predictions are bold, but attainable, for the Saints to finish this season.
