The New Orleans Saints sit at 2-1 in a good spot in the NFC South. The Denver Broncos are 0-3 in the cellar of the entire AFC.

Why should Saints fans care? No, it isn't because of Sean Payton's success (or lack of). Rather, New Orleans doesn't own their second-round pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, but they do own Denver's because of the Payton trade.

Right now, the Broncos' second-rounder is pick 33. That's the first pick of the round, but it belongs to the Saints.

The deal looks like a good one so far for the Saints.

Payton's Broncos look like one of the worst teams in their conference, and the defense is heavily underperforming. Meanwhile, New Orleans remains in a winnable division and have a schedule that can help them find regular season success.

Picking at the top of the second round could bring another starter to the Saints' starting lineup – if the Denver pick holds around where it is currently. No one would be shocked if it does, based on what we've seen so far.
