Comparisons are always an intriguing part of the NFL Draft process.
When a comp is made, many automatically jump to that player's production. In reality, the basis of a comp is athletic ability and play style when it comes to individuals.
One wide receiver in this year's NFL Draft is drawing comparisons to a former Pro Bowler for the Saints, Michael Thomas.
Thomas has struggled with injuries in recent seasons, but his ceiling was one of the top receivers in the entire league. He's been ultra-productive during his time in New Orleans, overall.
Accordingly, Thomas is an exciting comparison for Tennessee Vols WR Cedric Tillman.
Tillman isn't getting quite the same buzz that his Vols teammate, Jalin Hyatt, is during the pre-draft process.
That being said, Tillman's profile projects really nicely for the NFL. His contested catch and run after the catch ability are exciting for a receiver of his stature.
Tillman, 6'3", has the size to be a perimeter NFL wideout, and those aren't common in this year's draft class. Many of them are smaller, shifty receivers that may play a bulk of their snaps inside. Tillman can do both, and that should intrigue teams.
Tillman isn't the most polished route runner, but Thomas wasn't either.
Both guys know how to read zone coverages very well to find open space and make plays with the ball in their hands. Both Thomas and Tillman are reliable for their QB as well, minimizing drops.
It'll be an interesting transition for Tillman depending on his landing spot, but a comparison to a former league-leading receiver is a great sign to start.
