There is cause for concern for New Orleans Saints fans regarding star wideout Michael Thomas. Before returning at the start of this season, Thomas had barely played over the last two years due to injury.
Now, another injury has crept up to sideline the Saints' receiver.
It is a toe injury for Thomas, and the staff says that he will not get surgery on it. Rather, rest is what the two sides agreed is best for him right now.
Toe injuries can certainly linger, but the Saints need their best receiver back soon. The offense has scuffled for most of the season so far, and he provides plenty of talent when healthy.
That being said, the Saints will not rush their top wideout back, and they shouldn't. Re-injuring the toe would only set him back further.
Head Coach Dennis Allen did not have much of an update for the status of Thomas.
No timetable is a bit of a scary phrase. Coaches can give some sort of timeframe for a return from this kind of injury sometimes.
Allen is taking no chances, though. He won't guarantee the return of Thomas to the Saints until it is clear and obvious.
That makes plenty of sense, but it certainly builds suspense for Saints' fans.
Only time will tell when the Saints' star receiver will be back and fully healthy.
