The New Orleans Saints, as well as other NFL teams, have a shot at landing a 3-time All-Pro in free agency right now. The Arizona Cardinals released WR DeAndre Hopkins this past week. He could be a great addition to any offense in the league, but the team will have to come to an agreement with him on a new deal. The Saints do have one star defender with a past with Hopkins, though.
Safety Tyrann Mathieu has played with Hopkins in his career. They were teammates on the Houston Texans. The two were also good friends during that stint. Mathieu had a strong reaction to the news of Hopkins' release from Arizona.
Mathieu knows Hopkins' talent as well as anyone. He had to face him often in practice during their time in Houston.
For the Saints, the safety was great for them last season, overall. He had a slow start but came along rather quickly. Mathieu will be vital for the Saints defense this season. Adding Hopkins would be a major plus for an offense with tons of firepower already.
