Former New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees did not last long in the broadcast booth in his first year after retiring. He did just two games, one being a playoff bout with an entirely new production team.

There were mixed reviews of his performances. Some folks thought he did alright. Others felt that he did not quite fill empty space during the broadcast well enough. There was not enough analysis for them. All in all, those two games were his only chances, and it's a tough gig. He's stayed confident in his abilities and wants to keep learning.

Drew Brees is ready to return to broadcasting in the NFL

It's unclear which network could hire the future Pro Football Hall of Fame QB, but someone may take a swing. Until then, he's focused on coaching and spending time with his family.

Joe Buck defended Brees in a statement recently, too.

"I think Jason Witten got a bad shake. I think Drew Brees got a raw deal. And if there's anybody who was ever created in a computer to be a top analyst at a network, I think it's Drew Brees, and I would love to see him get another chance at that. He got one game, and he was working with a new crew and a new play-by-play guy, and everybody expected brilliance. You make one comment, and it gets its own life on social media. It's just ridiculous."

Buck thinks that Brees has potential and deserves another shot. Not to mention, other former players like Greg Olsen and Tony Romo have gotten seasons to prove themselves as commentating personalities, while Brees got only got two games?

The former Saints QB definitely hasn't closed the door on a return to the commentating side of football yet.
