The New Orleans Saints can chuckle a little bit regarding the latest roster action in the NFC ahead of the start of free agency. The Seattle Seahawks have made some huge moves.

DK Metcalf, Geno Smith trades shake up Seattle

Seattle shocked nearly everyone last week when they traded starting quarterback Geno Smith to the Las Vegas Raiders. To finish out the weekend, they dealt WR DK Metcalf away, too.

Both were seen as potential long-term pieces. Now, they'll be playing elsewhere, and the Seahawks staff will have to adjust their plans.

Not to mention, the Seahawks cut long-time wideout Tyler Lockett, DT Dre'Mont Jones, safety Rayshawn Jenkins, among others with experience and time in the starting lineup. The roster is experiencing a massive shuffle.

Former Saints assistants with Seahawks now

The Seahawks' coaching staff has four assistants from New Orleans' staff from last season. They had to rebuild their entire offensive staff, basically, and they looked to former Saints OC Klint Kubiak to do exactly that.

Kubiak brought with him three other offensive coaches from the Saints.

  • Andrew Janocko
  • John Benton
  • Rick Dennison

"There's a lot of really dang good football players on this roster."

— Klint Kubiak on what drew him to Seattle

Kubiak uttered those words on February 11th. Since then, a lot of those players have exited Seattle. We will see how the former Saints play-caller can adjust to whoever trots out their next season.

Regardless, it's fair to expect that their scheme may mimic a lot of what the Saints wanted to do last year when healthy. It remains to be seen how Seattle plans on replacing their starting quarterback, top wide receiver, and multiple defensive pieces.
