Sean Payton seemingly has his quarterback of the future with the Denver Broncos. The former New Orleans Saints head coach was a big believer in rookie QB Bo Nix during the draft process, and he's looking smart so far in his rookie season.
Nix is in the NFL Rookie of the Year conversation, and the Broncos are sitting at 8-5 after thirteen weeks of play. Some former NFL quarterbacks think Nix reminds them of a Saints legend for more than one reason.
Former NFL QBs on Brees/Nix
Chase Daniel is one of the most beloved backup quarterbacks in Saints history. He was known for being a fantastic teammate and locker room voice, even without playing very often on a consistent basis during his NFL career.
Daniel thinks that Nix reminds him a ton of Brees, who he played with for half a decade. Many aspects of the rookie's game makes him think of the legendary Saints QB.
Former NFL veteran quarterback Luke McCown also chimed in on the Nix/Brees discussion. McCown has been around football for quite some time and even spent a bit of time with New Orleans in 2012.
McCown thinks that the Payton-Nix duo is a perfect fit between a head coach and quarterback. Before his retirement, many folks argued that Payton and Brees were one of the greatest combos in NFL history. Now, it's possible that the veteran HC has his new version of himself and Brees in New Orleans.
It's quite a tall task for Nix to reach anywhere nears the heights of Brees, but there's a lot of confidence regarding his future with Payton at the helm in Denver.
