The New Orleans Saints will finish their preseason action at home against the Houston Texans on Sunday night. They'll battle a new-look Houston team in a game where few starters are expected to play meaningful time for New Orleans.

That being said, a game like this one is still very important. Depth is vital in the NFL, and roster spots are on the line. Derek Carr, among other starters, will not play for the Saints. Other players have an opportunity to make a major impact.

How can you watch Sunday night's matchup for the Saints?

  • WHO: Houston Texans @ New Orleans Saints
  • WHEN: 7:00 P.M. CST
  • WHERE (on TV): FOX
  • Betting Odds: Saints -2.5, Over/Under 37.5

Three Players to Watch

  • Smoke Monday, safety
  • Monday is a depth safety fighting for a role on the active roster. He is a younger option than some of his counterparts, like Ugo Amadi or Johnathan Abram. That being said, Monday has shown some inconsistencies during the offseason as he returns from injury. His special teams prowess is good, and the team still has confidence in him, though. A strong performance may earn him the nod for a roster spot. Many fans want him to have a role.
  • Shaq Davis, wide receiver
  • Davis has been extremely impressive in the preseason. His contested catch ability at 6'5 is unique, and some other players don't possess that upside. For a quarterback like Derek Carr, he could be useful during the regular season. He likes to push the ball down the field, so another strong outing from Davis could lock in a roster spot for the young WR.
  • D'Marco Jackson, linebacker
  • Jackson should get some meaningful run against the Texans. He's fighting for the one of the final LB spots on the roster with players like Zack Baun, Anfernee Orji, and Nephi Sewell. The top three linebackers are seemingly locked in, but Jackson could be the front runner for the final one. Jackson has been solid over the past week – in particular, too.

Don't underestimate the importance of a game like this for New Orleans. Jobs can be won and lost during a matchup like the one against the Chargers. Keep an eye on the game!
