A move that fans have been clamoring for could potentially be on the horizon for the New Orleans Saints. With the emergence of young wide receivers on the roster, there has been an increase in pressure on veteran wideout Tre'Quan Smith. Smith's receiving production has been extremely underwhelming in recent seasons, and he has been bitten by the injury bug at times as well.

Overall, young talent provides more upside than he does at this point of his career. Rashid Shaheed and A.T. Perry are clearly better options for the roster, and guys like Shaq Davis, Kawaan Baker, Keith Kirkwood, and others are making their claim, too.

Denver Broncos wide receiver Jerry Jeudy suffered an injury on Thursday that could sideline him. Everyone who follows the Saints knows that Sean Payton hasn't been afraid to sign or trade for his former players since joining Denver.

Could this be another opportunity for that for Payton and Smith?

Smith isn't the player that Jeudy is, but Tre'Quan possesses good blocking skills. Payton values those. Plus, Smith would know his offense quite well already. It wouldn't be a one-for-one replacement, but he could provide depth for Denver.

As for the Saints, they could get a day three pick in return for Smith. That's more than nothing – if he were to not make the 53-man roster by the start of Week 1.

It's a situation worth monitoring for both the Saints and Broncos.
