Kellen Moore makes bold but smart decision that he’s already learned can work for the Saints
The Saints are not relying solely on practice to improve in 2026, and it makes plenty of sense.
The New Orleans Saints are not losing sight of the fun in playing football in a professional fashion. They are doubling down on a big decision from young head coach Kellen Moore.
Saints will have a team bonding activity during minicamp
According to Nick Underhill, the Saints are running back a plan during the offseason from 2025 during this year’s offseason. They will have a team bonding activity to wrap up minicamp. The details are currently unknown for the event.
The Saints chose to do this last year as well, and the players had positive reactions to it. Players and coaches went to Five O Fore Golf in 2025 to create chemistry and camaraderie amongst them under tyhe then new head coach in Moore.
“Team bonding obviously a priority for new Saints coach Kellen Moore. He surprised players by canceling the final minicamp practice today and arranging a team outing instead. Previously took a day to play paintball and another day for community outreach during OTAs.” — Mike Triplett last offseason
As I noted last year, it makes sense. There are some new faces around the Saints roster, and some key veterans may not be in the fold, like Demario Davis and possibly Cameron Jordan. Getting acclimated to one another in a leisure setting can make a notable difference.
Last season, it felt like a group who played strong when they played together and had fun under the leadership of Moore, defensive coordinator Brandon Staley, and the other coaches on staff.
We will see if this decision helps the Saints continue to move in the right direction.
