The New Orleans Saints are hosting veteran running back Kareem Hunt on a visit this evening. This  news comes after the announcement that depth RB Eno Benjamin suffered a season-ending injury this past weekend for New Orleans.

Now, they look to add another piece to the running back room to follow Alvin Kamara, Jamaal Williams, and Kendre Miller. Hunt could be a great asset for that. That being said, getting him may be more difficult than some folks believe at the moment.

According to NFL Network, Hunt isn't looking to play on a veteran-minimum type of deal right now. He thinks that he deserves more than that, and that's fair. Although, the Saints may not be too thrilled to spend much more than that price tag on Hunt. He projects to be their RB3/4 once Alvin Kamara returns from suspension in Week 4. Additionally, Hunt is not in a rush to sign a contract, so the Saints may be put on hold for a bit when it comes to the former rushing champion.

“Kareem Hunt has been biding his time waiting for the right opportunity, still wants to make a little bit of money so I don’t get the sense he’s gonna get a minimum deal… That visit starts tonight, may not get some news today on that. But New Orleans does have a bit of a need there.” — Ian Rapoport

For the Saints, they do have some cap space to play with right now. They have just under $13 million in space, so a portion of that could go to Hunt to fill their need. He's also a more talented option than many others on the market. We'll see how the two sides jockey for position in the coming days.
