Minicamp is a great time for the NFL and its fans. Position battles emerge, highlights occur, and players start to step up for their favorite team. For the New Orleans Saints, they have a young star in the making for their secondary. Alontae Taylor exploded onto the scene last year as a rookie, and he doesn't seem to be slowing down anytime soon.

During minicamp, he flashed multiple times – making big plays against talented pass catchers for the Saints. He is competing with Paulson Adebo for the CB2 spot in New Orleans. Taylor should grab that spot over the veteran Adebo.

For Adebo, it wouldn't be the end of the world. He'd be CB3 for the Saints and provide very solid depth. He has showed great upside at times for the defense, but his inconsistencies have made those a bit more cloudy in the last two years. Last season, he was the cornerback that gave up the most big plays on the Saints defense. Of course, he was on the field a lot, so that doesn't help those numbers. Regardless, he didn't keep receivers in check often enough downfield.

Hopefully, this competition brings out the best in Adebo and Taylor. They both could use that to their advantage. They'll both be important for the Saints to have major success on defense in 2023.
